They're one of the most affordable natural hair salons in Abuja and they know how to pamper the hair. However, because of the client load, going to this salon becomes a full days event. The management should consider opening more branches.
They specialize in natural Afro hair, although they also cater to clients with permed hair. Most of the products they use are natural and made in-house, and these products are also available for purchase. If you plan to visit on a Saturday morning, try to arrive a few minutes before 8 a.m. to avoid a long queue. You can also call to make sure there isn’t a long queue, before leaving home.
Update: One of the best natural hair salons in Abuja, so much has improved since I last visited. I’ll be visiting again soon, it’s an amazing place to be. (Follow @onyiexplores on IG/Tiktok) Location: This salon is quite difficult to locate, I don’t know why a sign wasn’t put up at the entrance to indicate it, perhaps for security reasons. So consider communicating once you arrive for them to help you get to the salon. Aesthetic: The design was carefully thought out, very beautiful and a few nice spots to take cute pictures once your hair is finished. Service: I made an appointment to get my hair washed, trimmed and twisted, but when it got to trimming my stylist indicated that there were no split ends & it was too early for a trim. Additionally, the service was good, I could tell that the management were passionate about the job & try to make sure that the customers hair is done on time. In my case the stylist didn’t follow my instructions, I believe she didn’t understand me, I asked for 20 twists but she did over 30, but it still turned out cute. Also, she was a bit too slow for my liking, so she needs to be coached on speed. Additionally it’s been 5 days since I got my hair twisted and approximately 4 twists around the front of my hair have fallen down. This lets me know that that particular stylist isn’t trained when it comes to natural hair, so she needs more training. I have spoken with the manager and she told me that I should have made a complaint and the hair would have been redone or a refund would have been issued or the stylist would have made a home visit to get the hair done properly, so next time I’ll make sure to state any issues I have & not say it is ok, when it is not. Also because of the hassle, I have been given a discount on my next visit. Oma naturals try to communicate & make sure that the customer is truly happy with the service. Mistakes happen and I am pleased with the efforts that have been made to ensure that the mistake does not repeat itself. That is true customer service & I will be revisiting. Thank you. Hygiene/Cleanliness: Wearing of face masks in these unprecedented times should be made mandatory for both customers and employees to help stop the spread of the deadly COVID-19 disease. Also, consider deep cleaning the salon every few months and touch ups were necessary. For example in the ladies restroom the toilet floor flange had black mold around it and no paper hand towels were available. Also, the seats in the salon aren’t being cleaned properly, mine had brown stain, a warm cloth with mild detergent should be used, followed by antibacterial spray or wipes for disinfection. Pricing: From the service and price list, I had already calculated how much I’d pay, but when it was time to make payments it didn’t add up. For this reason I feel they are funny with pricing and if I return, I’ll make sure to inform them about what I want and ask how much everything will be, before the service begins. Additional(s): Take your products e.g braiding hair, shampoo, conditioner etc. So you don’t have to pay additional bill for making use of theirs e.g braiding hair. It’s way costly than what you’ll be able to bargain for in the market.
Nice space but the staffs need to do better. The receptionist was nowhere to be found and when I walked in the staffs were just looking at me like I was in the wrong place. The staffs tend to gist over customers head. And I was charge extra for palm rolling my locs. Relocking dread is 6k but palm rolling is 15k🙄🌚 make it make sense please. The management need to train the staffs. This is my first time of coming to this place and I already got this kind of experience. I spent 6hours in the saloon and I couldn’t get my gel polishes done bcos there was nobody on ground to do it. The service was okay tho aside the plenty shenanigans
Having been a client for a little over a year I can say that the quality of service has not declined and they have a superb customer service! Twice I’ve had my concern taken care of at no extra cost and in record time. Oma Natural Hair Salon grooms natural hair with so much expertise and I’m enjoying my hair journey with them. They have good products too!
