Great experience. Hold funds for entry fee. Despite paying for full experience with your guide, some tour guides won't want to walk you through the experience of you don't tip them extra. That's the downside. Asides this, the experience is awesome especially if you go through the rocks to the top rather than taking the stairs. Will I want to go again? Yes.

We had an amazing time. The hike up to the top of the rock was exciting though a bit scary. I also enjoyed visiting the arts and crafts shops and Nike art Gallery. Great experience all in all. Would definitely visit again.

Olumo Rock is a remarkable historical tourist site located in the heart of Abeokuta, Ogun State. Steeped in history and cultural significance, the rock served as a natural fortress where the Egba warriors sought refuge and hid for about three years during the Egba–Dahomey war. Standing at Olumo Rock, you can truly feel the strength, resilience, and strategic brilliance of the Egba people. Beyond its historical importance, the site offers a fascinating experience for visitors, with ancient caves, pathways, and viewpoints that tell stories of survival and courage. The panoramic views of Abeokuta from the top are breathtaking and add to the overall experience. Visiting Olumo Rock was both educational and inspiring, offering a deeper appreciation of Yoruba history, heritage, and the enduring spirit of the Egba people. It is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, culture, and adventure.

Olumo rock was a beautiful experience. If you’re planning to come, go in comfortable wears, shoes (especially ones with good grip because parts of the rock can be slippery) and prepared to drink lots of water and sweat too but once you get to the top, the view is worth it. There are photographers who can snap you with their cameras and also help you use your phone to snap and record you; you’d have to give them a token at your discretion when they are done. There’s also an art gallery but it can be crowded sometimes. If you’re someone who loves artwork, you’d enjoy seeing the pieces of art being shown. They’re incredible. The elevator does not work. I doubt they made efforts to fix that so if you’re looking to use the elevator, it doesn’t exist. This means the rock climbing is not wheel chair accessible. Hopefully in the future they might make it so. There are tour guides who will explain the history of the rock and the folklore of it to you (for a token) and you will enjoy it. Some photographers may offer to be your tour guides but they lack the narrative fluidity that the tour guide offers so it best you use them to video or snap you and use the ideal tour guides to get a full experience. There’s palmwine sold outside the gate which was really nice too. I look forward to visiting again.

Fantastic Day Trip to Olumo Rock! My group of friends and I recently visited the Olumo Rock Tourist Center, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience! This landmark is a must-see, offering not just a rich slice of history and culture, but also breathtaking panoramic views of Abeokuta. The climb itself is manageable, with both stairs and a lift available (though we opted for the stairs for the full experience!), and the sheer size and historical significance of the rock are truly awe-inspiring. Exploring the caves and hearing the stories connected to the rock's past was incredibly engaging. However, what truly elevated our visit was our amazing tour guide, Bamidele. From the picture we saw, he was the gentleman leading our tour, and he made our day very special. Bamidele was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and patient, answering all our questions and sharing fascinating insights about the Egba people and the rock's role in their history. He had a great sense of humor and managed to bring the stories to life, making the entire journey, from the base to the summit, feel like an adventure. If you're planning a trip, we highly recommend requesting Bamidele as your guide! The combination of the iconic site, the well-maintained center, and the exceptional guiding service from Bamidele made this a memorable and worthwhile trip. We left with incredible photos and a much deeper appreciation for the history of the region. Overall Rating: 5/5 stars - Highly Recommended!
