I first used Mantra Protection in Abuja, and the experience was impressive. Daniel, the driver, was calm, disciplined, and professional. That left a good impression, so I used them again in Lagos and Ibadan, coordinated by Stephen Idoku, who has always been responsive and professional. My most recent booking, however, came with a major price jump. I was quoted ₦100,000 per day for a 12-hour MOPOL shift, plus ₦15,000 per hour for MOPOL overtime and ₦50,000 per hour for car overtime. The explanation was “ber month” demand, but the rates felt excessive. A little over double what their competitors were quoting. I compared other providers and found similar or better service at more reasonable rates. To their credit, Mantra’s team remains organized and professional, but pricing needs to come back to reality. I told Stephen I’d gladly return if they quote fairly next time.

However, after deciding to explore competitors recently, I realized just how unbalanced their pricing has become. When you start getting billed over ₦100,000 daily for a MOPOL add-on, it’s clear something’s off. The vehicles, while functional, are quite dated and worn, yet the rates are double or even triple what others charge for newer fleets and similar (or better) service. Even one of their higher-end cars, renting for almost ₦500,000 a day, doesn’t have GPS navigation, which is surprising at that price point. They advertise “monitored service” throughout the trip, but in practice, that’s mostly WhatsApp check-ins or radio exchanges, not the advanced or tech-driven security setup one might expect for the cost. Overall, while their professionalism and experience are commendable, the pricing no longer justifies the value. I strongly recommend doing your research and comparing options before finalizing with this group.
